This year, our chapter participated in Rockin’ Against Multiple Sclerosis (RAMS). Established in 1993, RAMS is a student-run philanthropic organization here at Mizzou. During the month of February, they raise money and awareness for the MS Institute of Mid-Missouri. According to their website, RAMS has raised over one million dollars for the MS Institute.
This year, RAMS raised a record breaking $92,253.67.
To kick off the week, a 5K run/walk was held on Feb 17. Despite the below freezing tempetures and rain showers, many people from different greek life houses and other organizations attended and showed their support.
Throughout the week, other events are held such as a dodgeball tournament, bowling tournament, trivia night, and a speaker nigh. Speaker night is an opportunity for students to learn more about MS. Speakers from the community, and even previous students share their stories about MS and how it has personally affected them.
Rams also holds a Rock-It event. Rock-It is a lip-sync, skit and dance competition between participating organizations. This year, Sigma Kappa placed third in Rock-It.
