The Walk to End Alzheimer’s

This last weekend, our chapter participated in Columbia’s annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s. It was absolutely amazing to see all of our sisters come together to support such an amazing cause!

Epsilon Mu, once again, refuses to be number two! For the fourth year in a row, we are the number one fundraising Sigma Kappa chapter in the United States.  So far, we have raised $56,353.62, and that number is still growing!

Alzheimer’s is a disease that has affected many of us, and that’s why we’re so passionate about it.  More than 5.4 million Americans (that’s 1 in 9 people over the age of 65!) suffer from this disease, and over 15 million Americans provide unpaid care for those with Alzheimer’s.  We are so incredibly passionate about raising money for research because it is the 6th leading cause of death in America, and the only leading cause of death that there is no cure or medication to slow the progression for.

Gerontology with an emphasis on Alzheimer’s is one of three Sigma Kappa philanthropies.  Because of that, we love being able to go out and walk along side our community!

Together, we can cure this disease!
